Dryer Vent Cleaning in South Florida

The culprit slowing you down? A clogged dryer vent.

If a load takes two cycles to dry, the dryer is often not the problem. Lint has packed the vent line, the machine cannot exhaust, and it runs longer and hotter than it should. Lint is also what dryer fires start in.

How It Works

Lint Is Fuel, and It Builds Up Where You Cannot See

The lint trap catches only part of what comes off your clothes. The rest travels down the vent line and settles, especially at bends and at the exterior flap. Packed lint blocks the exhaust, so heat and moisture stay in the drum, the machine runs longer and hotter, and the failure at the end of that road is a fire. Long runs, runs with several bends, and vents that exit through the roof clog fastest, so mention yours when you book.

Before You Book

Dryer Vent Cleaning, Step by Step

When to book, what gets cleared, and how to get the laundry room ready.

Signs It Is Time

  • A normal load needs two cycles to dry
  • The dryer or the laundry room gets hot while it runs
  • A burning smell, or lint collecting around the outside vent hood
  • The outside flap barely opens when the dryer is on
  • It has been more than a year since the last cleaning

How the Cleaning Works

  • Lint is cleared from the vent line between the dryer and the outside hood
  • Bends and the exterior flap are where it packs tightest
  • Long runs and roof exits take longer, which is why the office asks about yours
  • Add air duct cleaning to the same request if you want both

Before We Arrive

  • Clear anything stored beside or behind the dryer
  • Make sure the outside vent hood can be reached, including on the roof
  • Empty the lint trap
  • Mention any symptoms to the technician

Dryer Vent Cleaning in South Florida

Why vent lines here clog the way they do, and what that means for yours.

Condo and Townhome Vent Runs

In many condos and townhomes the dryer sits deep inside the unit and the vent travels a long way to an outside wall or the roof, often with several bends. Long runs and bends are where lint packs tightest. Some associations schedule vent cleaning for the whole building, so ask management before you book your own.

Damp Air, Clinging Lint

Humid air means damp lint, and damp lint clings to the walls of the vent instead of blowing out. Laundry rooms in garages and closets with little airflow make it worse. If your dryer has started needing two cycles, the vent is the first thing to check.

Birds, Wasps and the Outside Hood

Exterior hoods are a favorite spot for nesting birds and wasps, and a nest blocks the exhaust as completely as lint does. If the flap does not open when the dryer runs, or you see nesting material, have the hood cleared as part of the cleaning.

Roof Exits

Roof terminations are common on two-story homes and townhomes, and they clog faster because lint has to travel up before it can get out. Tell the office the vent exits through the roof when you book so the crew comes ready to reach it. If you also want the ducts done, add air duct cleaning to the same request.

How a Vent Clogs

The lint trap catches part of the lint. The rest travels down the vent with hot, damp air and settles where the air slows: at bends, at low spots, and at the exterior hood. Once a layer forms, more sticks to it, and the dryer has to push harder against a narrower pipe.

Long Runs and Bends

Every bend and every foot of duct slows the air. Building codes limit how long a dryer exhaust run can be and take length off for each elbow, which is why a long run with several bends needs cleaning more often than a short straight one.

Foil and Plastic Transition Hoses

The flexible hose behind many dryers is the weak point. Plastic and thin foil accordion hoses crush when the dryer is pushed back, sag, and trap lint in every ridge. Rigid or semi-rigid metal is the better connector. If yours is plastic or crushed, replace it.

Gas Dryers

A gas dryer burns fuel, so a blocked vent does more than slow drying: exhaust has nowhere to go. Keep the vent clear, keep a working carbon monoxide alarm near the laundry area, and have the vent cleaned once a year.

Habits That Help

Clean the lint trap every load, never run the dryer when you are asleep or away, and keep the area around the dryer clear of boxes and laundry. Check the outside hood a few times a year while the dryer is running to make sure the flap opens.

Questions About Dryer Vent Cleaning

Anything else? Call (888) 700-4894 and the office will answer it.

Once a year for most households. Sooner if you run a lot of loads, if the vent line is long, or if drying has started taking more than one cycle.

Yes. Lint is extremely flammable and a blocked vent traps heat in the machine. It is one of the more common household fire causes and one of the easiest to prevent.

Usually. When a dryer cannot exhaust, moisture stays in the drum and the load will not dry. Clearing the vent fixes that in most cases without touching the machine.

Yes. Need more than one service? Pick them all in one request and the office schedules it.

It depends on the length of the run, the number of bends, and whether the vent exits through the roof. The office confirms the price before the visit, and Florida Panthers fans get 15% off.

Most of the time goes to reaching the run. A short wall vent is quicker than a long run that exits through the roof, which is why the office asks where yours exits.

Yes. Roof exits are among the runs that clog fastest, so mention it when you book so the crew comes ready to reach it.

Yes. Lint is fuel, and a blocked vent traps heat in the machine. Failure to clean dryers is the leading cause of home dryer fires in the United States.

You can clean the lint trap and the short connector behind the dryer. A long run, a roof exit or a run with several bends is hard to clear completely with a store kit, and a brush pushed into a packed bend can compact the lint further.

Loads that need two cycles, a hot dryer or laundry room, a burning smell, lint around the outside hood, or a flap that barely opens when the dryer runs.

Clearing the lint from the vent line between the dryer and the outside hood, including the bends, and clearing the exterior hood and flap. Tell the office where the vent exits and roughly how long it is when you book.

Yes. The lint trap catches only part of the lint and the rest settles in the duct, where it blocks the exhaust and becomes fuel. Stanley Steemer recommends once a year for most homes.
